Jotaká

Hello! I'm Juan Carlos, although everyone calls me Jotaká. I work as an illustrator in Valencia (Spain), the city where I was born. Let's say that I move between digital and traditional illustration (with watercolors or gouache), and I work for brands and advertising projects, social networks, magazines, etc. I also really enjoy making ceramic pieces and creating personal projects. Some of the brands I have worked for are Netflix, Iberia, Hyundai, Cervezas Alhambra, hp, and Cruz Roja, although I also like working for smaller brands. I have four illustrated books on the market.

"I have been using Canson since I was studying at art school. It was there that I discovered most of the papers that I still use today as a professional illustrator. Some of my papers that have always been with me are the 370-gram Basik for watercolor and tempera. It is a very versatile paper between fine and satin grain that I still use. Another of my favorites is the Mi-Teintes range, which is also very versatile for painting with pastels, although I have always used it to make my paper-art illustrations. I love the fine texture they have and that can be subtly appreciated in the photos I take with the finished piece. It is definitely what I am looking for with respect to this type of work on paper. Lately I have been using the 400-gram Acrylic paper pack a lot. It has been my latest discovery from Canson, and both its texture and consistency make my original illustrations look prettier."
