Do you know about Inktober®? It's an Instagram event that was first started by the skilled illustrator Jake Parker. Combine Ink and October and you get Inktober®! The challenge is to do one ink drawing a day on a given theme. The idea is to practice, to train, and to step outside of our habitual themes, and to this every day. In sum, a nice little challenge!
In Canson® XL Book notebooks, Virginie will take on the Inktober® themes, but with a few small changes to the original Inktober philosophy. We're expanding the possibilities: Virginie won't be limited to ink, she'll be able to have fun with any and all techniques (graphite, watercolor, marker, colored pencil, etc.). On the other hand, she'll have one, small, supplementary constraint: she will have to include a hot air balloon in her drawings, as it is our emblem and a symbol of our roots...
For those who don't know, the history of our brand began in 1557 under the leadership of the Montgolfier family. Over the generations, this family of papermakers has developed several innovations and inventions (including the famous hot air balloon). That's why you can find the hot air balloon in our logo and on many of our product covers!
But back to Inktober. Throughout the month of October, Virginie will give us one drawing a day, which we'll post on Instagram. If you, too, wish to participate in the challenge, feel free to use the hashtag #cansoninktober. It'll be our pleasure to check out your pieces!
